Think of some of the things in life that you have managed to get accomplished (with God’s help). Now, think of some other things that you still would like to accomplish.
Most of us would like to experience “good relationships, friendships, etc.”. Many made decisions, to attend college, join the military, or attend graduate school. Some advanced, and others are still in the process of advancing, on their jobs, and in their various careers.
We want to experience financial stability. We would like to raise our children and grandchildren to become productive God-fearing citizens.
Some have now retired; others are looking forward to reaching retirement; and to begin checking things off of their bucket lists! And one of the main things that we want to do is to serve God, and here Him say, “well done!”
Those are all good and worth-while goals to be working toward. But do understand that there will always be one main problem surrounding any goal that you set: THERE WILL BE OPPOSITION.
Anything “good” that you want to do, Satan wants to somehow, and in some way, make it turn out “bad”.
1). Romans 7:21- I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
This can labeled as,
“THE LAW OF OPPOSITION”
For every godly action you take, there is (not equal, but), an opposite reaction.
Living life without a spiritual battle, is impossible.
God will places you on a “good” road, but it is guaranteed, that you will encounter something “bad”.
This can be labeled as a “negative” guarantee!
2). John 16:33- These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
But there is also a “positive” guarantee as well:
FIVE STAR SENTENCE: It is impossible for the devil to stop you, without your help!
CONTEMPLATION QUESTION: How do we help the devil to stop us?
There are several ways in which we assist the devil in stopping our spiritual progress. We will focus on one of the main ways; how our attitudes assist the devil in blocking our pathway.
When we become angry, and decide to return hurt for hurt; and hatred for hate. When we make choices to pay people back, instead of loving and praying for our enemies, those type of decisions, “help” the devil to block our progress.
1). Ephesians 4:26-27 (KJV)- 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil.
2). Ephesians 4:26-27 (AMP)- 26 Be angry [at sin—at immorality, at injustice, at ungodly behavior], yet do not sin; do not let your anger [cause you shame, nor allow it to] last until the sun goes down. 27 And do not give the devil an opportunity [to lead you into sin by holding a grudge, or nurturing anger, or harboring resentment, or cultivating bitterness].
Jesus presented us with two options when it came to our enemies:
a). Option # 1- Pay
1). Matthew5:38- Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
b). Option # 2- Pray
2). Matthew 5:44- But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
We will look at two reasons why it is impossible for the devil to stop you. There are many more; but our focus will be on these two.
- Reason # 1- God Will Always Go Before You.
1). Isaiah 45:2a- I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight:
Now exactly “what” does this mean? And “how” does God do it?
This means that God has “already” visited your “tomorrow”. Now, you need to know “when” God visited your tomorrow…. YESTERDAY!!! God will go “before” you, and He will get to tomorrow, before you do.
Now, what does God do, when He visits your tomorrow? He “prepares” tomorrow for you…And He did that, yesterday!!!
Well, what does that mean? Whatever “pain” you experienced on yesterday, was “preparation” for your tomorrow!!!
FIVE STAR SENTENCE: Pain is always preparation.
You did not experience “failure” …. all of that was “preparation”. Ask Moses, David, Peter, and the Apostle Paul.
God wants your “tomorrow”, to be better than your “yesterday”. So, He allowed pain “yesterday”, so that you might have a “brighter day”.
a). Genesis 24:7- The LORD God of heaven…. He shall send His angel before thee…..”
b). Exodus 23:20, 23- 20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
Let’s closely look at exactly “how” God goes before us:
He sends His mighty warrior angels before His children, to make a way, and to clear a way for us to be able to “make it”, before we get to “tomorrow”.
(vs. 23)- 23 For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off.
c). Exodus 33:2- And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:
Your angel will “open” doors for you, and “close” others from you. They:
I. Create opportunity
II. Fight opposition.
“Before” we personally encounter, or get into some battles, angels are sent out “ahead” of us to defeat some, and destroy others, of our enemies.
2). II Chronicles 32:21a (GNT)- The Lord sent an angel that killed the soldiers and officers of the Assyrian army. So the emperor went back to Assyria disgraced.
3). II Kings 19:35- And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.
Israel never had to fight in these battles. Why? An angel went “before” them and fought for them.
QUESTION: ___ yes ___ No Will God do the same for you?
God’s angels will also go before you and create “perfect opportunities” for us, and again, open “certain doors”.
4). Genesis 24:7- The Lord God of heaven, which took me from my father’s house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.
5). Micah 2:13a- (AMP)- “The [a]breaker [the Messiah, who opens the way] shall go up before them [liberating them].
- Reason # 2- God Will Always Go with You.
Not only will angels go “before” you, they will also go right along “with” you.
1). Genesis 24:40-a And he said unto me, The Lord, before whom I walk, will send his angel with thee, and prosper thy way; 2). Matthew 28:19-20- 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen
