We will begin a new series on this evening, and the title of this series will be, “The Seven Spirits of God”.
We are definitely living in some “challenging” times!!! This is uncharted territory for most of us. During this extremely difficult season, and we have no idea how long it will last, you and I are faced with three options:
Option # 1- Demise
This is when a person find him/herself unable to juggle all of the simultaneous chaos that is going on. With that being the case, the situation becomes overwhelming; eventually getting the best of them, and they unfortunately will become a causality during these very trying times. Here, the person simply does not make it. They experience demise.
Option # 2- Survive
This iswhere a person is barely making it, and it is most unpleasant. You’re not where you use to be, you have grown spiritually over the years, but now you seem to be stuck. Your direction is not clear.
You have “left Egypt”, and are now going through the desert, but you’re stuck right there. You’re having trouble “crossing over”, or entering the Promised Land.
It is possible to survive in the desert! The children of Israel did it for 40 years! But one should not make his/her home in the desert. Life has a way of throwing us so many curves and hardships, that we basically lose our energy to keep going forward. We become satisfied just “living”. We have become weary in well doing.
Here, a person has given up on “abundant living/life”. You say, “surviving” is better than “dying”!!! You feel that it’s better than option # 1, Demise. Some call this the “valley of decision”, or as is stated in Psalm 23:4, “the valley of the shadow of death…”
Option # 3- Thrive!
Here you see God doing exceedingly, abundantly, above all that you can ask or think. This is your “Goshen Moment”. Your biblical motto is: “No weapon formed against me shall proper”.
During these chaotic times, there are seven things that you must know about. Seven things that you must be very familiar with, in order for you to thrive, and have clarity and direction.
1). Revelation 4:5- And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
God has provided us with the Holy Spirit; which we all know. But there are six other spirits of God, that He has provided us with, that we do not know. These are not equal to/with the Holy Spirit, but you must know them.
So, now we must ask, “What are the six other “spirits of God”, that the Bible speaks about? Once you know about them, understand them, and began to walk in them, it will be next to impossible for these chaotic times, and the devil, who is producing all of the chaos, to stop you!
FIVE POINT SNTENCE: You cannot be an informed Bible student, and not know about what the Bible calls, the “seven spirits of God”.
Why do we say this? Because God speaks about them a whole lot.
1). Revelation 1:4- John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
2). Revelation 3:1a- And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God,…
3). Revelation 5:6- And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
***** This information is so important, that what I plan to do for the next few weeks is to take my time and explain it.
The man or woman, that knows about these seven spirits, they will be the ones to “turn the world upside down”! Just knowing it simply takes you to another spiritual level.
God, through His word, the Bible, mentions each of these spirits by name. We find that listing in the following verse:
1). Isaiah 11:2- And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord;
These are the seven spirits of God:
1). The spirit of the Lord
2). The spirit of wisdom
3). The spirit of understanding
4). The spirit of counsel
5). The spirit of might
6). The spirit of knowledge
7). The spirit of the fear of the Lord
These seven spirits “do”, “provide” you with, and “perform”, seven separate things. They have seven separate functions. These are the seven things that a Christians life should be built upon. And for a practical understanding, we will simply refer to these as, “the seven ways in which God helps you”.
