‘A Goshen Moment”

Good evening! Welcome to our Thursday evening Bible study. We will go ahead and pray and then jump right into the lesson.

     Okay, on last Thursday we started talking about “Dealing with the Invisible”. This evening, we will divide the lesson into three sections:

     Last Thursday we made the statement that we are living in most difficult times, and are faced with some very challenging circumstances! We find ourselves forced to deal with a whole lot.

     In order to “make sense” of everything that is now happening, you will need to give these current times a title. They would best be described as “A Goshen Moment”. You must make sure that you don’t misunderstand this moment!!!!

     What is a “Goshen Moment”?

     FIVE STAR MOMENT: A Goshen Moment is a God Moment.

     A “Goshen Moment” is actually a “God Moment”!!! It’s when chaos is all around you, but God will not allow it to destroy you. A person can survive, when chaos is all around them on the “outside”, because they have a power supply on the “inside”.

          1). Exodus 9:25-26- 25 And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field. 26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail.

     This is a picture of how God wants to both “protect” and “provide” for your family, right now, during these difficult times. It’s a “Goshen Moment”. This is how He wants to “protect” and “provide” for Mount Pisgah, Longley, and every other church.

     When you are in the middle of a Goshen Moment, you must do two things in order to make it:

          A). Recognize-

               1). I Chronicles 12:32a-  And of the children of Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do;

     You must first “recognize” that this time is like no other moment. This is a “destiny moment”, and “destiny decisions” must be made.

          B). Realize-

               You must “realize” what you now must “do”, in order to make it. The man of Issachar “recognized” the times, but also “realized” that they had something to “do”.

     The # 1 question that a person should ask when times are tough is: “Lord, what is it that I personally must do?”

     It’s quite obvious to see what the devil and his demons are “doing”.  Our focus should be on what is it that we should now be doing?

     This is going to be the “key” to survival.

          2). Isaiah 59:19b- When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

    You must “realize” that in order for you to make it, God has now  “raised the standard”. What we did to survive and make it in 2017, will no longer work during these times. You must now “raise your standard”.

          3). Romans 1:17a- For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith….

               If you’re having trouble dealing with all of the chaos, ask God to “reveal” to you:

                    a). What times are these that we’re living in.

                    b). And exactly what he is now expecting you to personally do.

                         1). James 4:8- Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

     During these times you’re gonna be expected to make up you mind. God is expecting for you to make a shift. The bar has been raised!

     A standard that was long ago “established”, is now being “enforced”.

          1). Jeremiah 29:13- And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

          2). Deuteronomy 4:29- But if from thence (if from there) thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul

          3). Revelation 3:15-16- 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

     Your prayer standard; praise standard (giving God thanks); relationship standard (with God); studying standard; humility standard;….must all now be raised!

     You will not be able to make it, by your own strength, or your best thinking. Everything has changed. The survival standards have been raised.

          1). Zechariah 4:6b- This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

          2). II Corinthians 3:5- Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

          We can, and will make it, but it will only be by God’s grace. Leaning on His power and promises.

          3). II Corinthians 12: 9a- And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness!
